BIO

PhiLip “PhiL” Bell is from Memphis, Tennessee he attended Watkins Overton High School of creative and performing arts. He majored in music. He was a member concert, madrigals and his favorite the show choir. The award winning choirs toured local schools and performed a broad in Nice France and the Bahamas. PhiL recieved his B.S. Degree in Speech and Theatre from Tennessee State University in Nashville. There He performed with the choir, in many plays and showcases.

PhiL worked with Blues City Cultural Center an African American Theatre Company as a resident company actor. There they performed live theatre in schools, and on the famous Beale Street in the Old Daisy Theatre.

He also worked with as a company actor for both Beale Street Ensemble Theatre and Showagan. PhiL performed two seasons hosting, singing and dancing with Libertyland entertainment.

PhiL moved to LA to pursue his dream of being a performing artist. His vocal coach, the late Dini Clarke encouraged him to do a tribute concert featuring some of his influences including, Cab Calloway, Donny Hathaway, Edwin Starr, Johnny Mathis and Teddy Pendergrass. The show Chillin’ with PhiL featured PhiL with a six piece band and three background vocalist. The show played at the famous Cafe Club Fais Do-Do in Los Angeles. The show was well received and did a two month run.

Writer Cmiijanou “Chazz” Faulkner was in attendance of show and was moved To ask PhiL to record one of his original tracks. Before heading to studio Taniqua Sherman thought the song would pop if a rap was added. PhiL at the time was taking an acting class at Los Angeles City College and his scene partner was a rapper.

PhiL and Fresco headed for the studio and recorded Every Thought. Under the management of Chazz the duo began doing showcases, working on an album and booked an Oreo Cookie national commercial starring Randy Jackson.

PhiL and Fresco were taking off fast when they began to have inner conflict and go separate ways. PhiL with Chazz decided to do the project as a solo effort, U PhiL me? was created.

The band lead by PhiL are from different parts of the globe. Their backgrounds and encounters in life are contrasting. The love and respect of music brings them together with no color lines.
